Microsoft is in the house talking Disaster Recovery & Azure

January 26, 2017 @ 11:30 am - 12:45 pm

Disaster Recovery & Azure
Synopsis: Backup is considered a necessary evil in a lot of organizations – it consumes a lot of storage, it’s prone to failure when you need it most, and the volume of data most organizations have doesn’t really lend itself to rapid restore from tape. In this session, we’ll cover new options for offsite backup in the Azure cloud to minimize these concerns. Scenarios we’ll look at will include:
• Backing up a Linux, Mac, or Windows machine directly to offsite cloud storage
• 3rd Party integration w/ backup tools admins are familiar with (CommVault, NetApp, etc.), all of whom leverage Cloud storage for offsite and archival storage
• Replicating Virtual Machines from VMWare and Hyper-V to Azure, & failing over to Azure (and then back again) during and after a declared disaster
• Paying for storage you actually use for backup vs. SANs you own and maintain
