SMMUG in Portland ME: The Future of Windows Server and Hyper-V
September 21, 2017 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
The Future of Windows Server and Hyper-V There are a lot of new technologies and approaches being tossed about today… Cloud Services, Converged Infrastructure, Reduced Surface Areas of Attack, Software-Defined-Just-About-Everything, Nano Server, Server Core, Server vNext, etc. So what’s Microsoft up to and where are they going? We’ve heard about the “Cloud First” mentality at Microsoft, but what does that REALLY mean when I just want to stand up a Server in my office? What’s the right play long-term, and what’s going to fall off the plate as the future unfolds? And now that Azure Stack is shipping, where does Hyper-V fit into the grand scheme of things? Is Nano Server the future, and if so, what do I need to know about it?
Come to this SMMUG event to discuss Microsoft’s strategy in all these areas. We’ll seek to dispel rumor, distill guidance, and provide some of the answers of what we know today. While we can’t peer into a crystal ball and predict the future in every detail, this seminar will provide a discussion of the larger strategy behind Microsoft’s next steps, and provide a glimpse as to where we’re going. We will discuss the context of the latest public announcements, and provide some insight as to where these interim steps fit into Microsoft’s long-term plans.
